Indigenous communities and nature are two close components that cannot be separated. So if nature is damaged they are the first parties to suffer the most. The state has an obligation to maintain the sustainability of nature and protect the preservation of culture owned by indigenous communities in Indonesia through policy support and empowerment programs that directly target indigenous communities for the purpose of increasing and equalizing welfare for all Indonesian people.
YBBI, a partner of the ESTUNGKARA-INKLUSI program through KEMITRAAN carried out an investigation into the Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD) of Pulang Pisau Regency, related to development planning in Pulang Pisau Regency, especially in the tourism sector. In the contents of the RPJMD there is a budget allocation for the development of cultural tourism. YBBI then conveyed the results of this search to the management of the Barasak Island Traditional Forest Management Institute (LPHA), Pilang Village.
LPHA, through its Chairman, Ardianto, said that the institution agreed to explore the program and wanted to hold an audience with the district government through the Tourism and Culture Office, and asked for YBBI's willingness to facilitate this activity.
Together with LPHA representatives followed by one female representative, YBBI facilitated this activity to bring LPHA together with the Regional Government. After presenting the history and plans for customary forest management, LPHA hopes to become one of the institutions prioritized for inclusion in this government program.
