Pundi Sumatra Holds Routine Posyandu in SAD Community

Tuesday, May 28, 2024, Pundi Sumatra carried out routine posyandu activities and distributed Complementary Foods for Breast Milk (MPASI) to toddlers in the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) Dwi Karya Bakti Community. The activity, which started at 14.00 WIB, went smoothly and received an enthusiastic response from the community residents.

The implementation of the posyandu this time was managed independently by posyandu cadres in the SAD Dwi Karya Bakti settlement without being guided by a midwife. These posyandu cadres have received intensive training on various aspects of the posyandu. Starting from measuring height and weight, to how to provide MPASI. Also conducting child health checks through interviews with parents.

However, some medical services such as blood pressure checks cannot be carried out because the community does not have adequate medical equipment. The results of this examination will then be reported to the village midwife for follow-up.

This posyandu activity has a very important role in monitoring the growth and health of children in the SAD community. Where they are often difficult to reach by formal health services. In remote areas like this, access to health facilities is often a major challenge. Therefore, posyandu is one solution to ensure that children get the care and health monitoring they need.

In the long term, it is hoped that this posyandu activity can reduce malnutrition rates and improve the quality of life of children in SAD communities. Malnutrition in children under five is a serious health problem and can have an impact on children's physical and mental development. With routine posyandu, it is hoped that timely intervention can be carried out to prevent and overcome malnutrition problems.

Pundi Sumatra hopes that this posyandu can run sustainably and that more posyandu cadres will be trained. The sustainability of this program is very important to ensure that children in the SAD community continue to receive the care they need. As well as increasing the capacity of posyandu cadres in providing better health services.

Juliana, one of the posyandu cadres, expressed the importance of this activity for their community. “This Posyandu is very important for us to monitor the growth and health of children in our community. "We hope that we can continue to implement it with support from various parties," he said.

Hari, as head of the SAD Dwi Karya Bakti community, also gave his views regarding this posyandu activity. He stated that the posyandu activities carried out by Pundi Sumatra really helped parents in maintaining the health of their children. "We hope that this program can continue and that more parties will be involved to help our community," he said.

This routine monthly posyandu activity is part of Pundi Sumatra's commitment with the support of the ESTUNGKARA program to support the health and welfare of the SAD community. This program aims to ensure that children get the care they need even with limited facilities. In addition, this program also seeks to empower communities through training and capacity building of posyandu cadres.

In implementing this posyandu activity, Pundi Sumatra collaborates with various parties to ensure the smoothness and effectiveness of the program. Support from various parties is very necessary so that this activity can continue and provide maximum benefits for the SAD community.

The continuity of this posyandu program is highly dependent on the support and cooperation of various parties. Both from the government, non-governmental organizations, and the community itself. With continued support, it is hoped that this program can continue to provide positive contributions to the health and welfare of children in the SAD Dwi Karya Bakti community.
