On September 13 2023, an important meeting was held at the South Siberut Subdistrict office. This meeting aims to discuss the fulfillment of population administration in the assisted village areas of the Cinta Mandiri Mentawai Foundation (YCMM). There are around 90 residents who do not yet have a Resident Identity Card (KTP), Family Card (KK), and Child Identity Card (KIA). This is based on YCMM's initial data collection in the Estungkara program.
During the meeting, the South Siberut Subdistrict Head committed to providing full support in providing population administration services in YCMM assisted village areas. The initial step that will be taken is coordinating with Population and Civil Registry Service (Dukcapil) staff to prepare a schedule and agenda for recording in Muntei villages and hamlets.
Apart from meeting with the sub-district head, YCMM also held discussions with the school at SD 12 Muntei, Muntei Village, South Siberut District. This discussion was initiated by communicating with Mrs. Endang, a senior teacher at Muntei Elementary School, because the position of principal was vacant. After several communications, it was agreed that a meeting would be held on September 14 2023, attended by the entire panel of teachers, including grade 1-6 teachers.
At the meeting, YCMM representatives conveyed the aims and objectives of collecting data on students who do not yet have MCH. The teachers' council agreed to collect data on all students who do not yet have MCH. The school will provide information when all the data has been collected.
YCMM also visited the South Siberut District Job Training Center (BLK) on September 15 2023. Frans, a BLK staff member, said that BLK provides various types of training to improve people's skills. However, currently only culinary training and workshops have been carried out due to limited budget and resources.
When proposing opportunities for disability groups, Frans admitted that there were no resource persons in the Mentawai Islands Regency who had that capacity. Especially for the deaf and speech disabled group. This will be used as input for the district Musrenbang and efforts will be made to coordinate with the provincial BLK to ensure the availability of special resource persons.
In early November 2023, YCMM will again collaborate with Dukcapil to record KTP, KK and KIA. As many as 50 residents in the upper reaches of the Silakoinan river, namely the hamlets of Salappa, Bekkeiluk and Magosi, carry out population administration. Of this number, two KIA have been printed, while the others are still being processed at Dukcapil. The obstacles faced include differences in the names of each supporter's identity so that the data must be re-verified.
On September 18 2023, YCMM submitted a request for new family heads for two heads of families. Namely in the names of Fabianus Fako and Delianus, residents of Pariok and Muntei hamlets, Muntei Village. This submission is made at the South Siberut District Head's office and will be continued whenever the supporting documents are complete. Alek, a Dukcapil operator officer, felt that this YCMM activity was very helpful because it accelerated the process of fulfilling population administration in the area.
Following up on the meeting with the SD 12 Muntei teacher council, YCMM invited Dukcapil recording operator officers to the meeting. The meeting, which was initiated by the newly appointed school principal, aims to convey the results of data collection on students who do not yet have MCH. Of the 52 students who did not have KIA, 38 students could be recorded because the rest had not completed the documents in the form of family card and birth certificate.
On October 21 2023, 38 printed KIAs were handed over by YCMM to the children of SD 12 Muntei. This KIA was printed thanks to collaboration between YCMM, sub-district Dukcapil, and the teachers' council of SD Negeri 12 Muntei. Furthermore, the KIA will be distributed by schools through their respective class teachers.
The principal of SD 12 Muntei stated that this activity was very helpful in inputting student data to be submitted as recipients of educational assistance (PIP). For students who have not completed the required documents, the school will communicate with the student's parents to ensure that the required documents are complete. It is hoped that this collaboration between YCMM and Dukcapil will continue to ensure that all citizens, especially children, receive complete and legal population administration.
With ongoing efforts and cooperation, it is hoped that all residents in Muntei Village and other assisted areas can fulfill their population administration. This not only gives them access to various social services and assistance from the government, but also ensures that their rights as citizens are fulfilled.
