Prevent Stunting in the Suku Anak Dalam Community Through Routine Posyandu Activities

On Friday, February 23, 2024, Pundi Sumatera in collaboration with the Posyandu Dwi Karya Bakti Village held a toddler health service activity. This activity aims to ensure the health of mothers and children in community settlements. The Inner Tribe Dwi Karya Bakti Village, Pelepat District, Bungo Regency. The activity started at 09.00 and was attended by mothers from the Hari and Badai SAD groups.

During the activity, the mothers participated in a series of Posyandu activities including health checks, weighing and height, and measuring the circumference of the head, stomach, and arms of children. In addition, they also received assistance in the form of vitamin A and biscuits as additional intake to prevent stunting.

One of the encouraging progress is seen in three children from Suku Anak Dalam who previously experienced stunting. By routinely following the Posyandu program, they have experienced quite different changes in terms of weight and height, which shows positive health improvements.

Tutik explained that the Posyandu activities really helped her as a parent to monitor her child's growth.

"We are very grateful for this activity. In the past, we did not know how to monitor children's growth. Now, we understand better how to provide good nutrition for children. Hopefully, this activity can continue so that more children can be healthy," said Tutik when met.

Ulvi, as a facilitator from Pundi Sumatera, also added that the enthusiasm of the housewives in this activity was quite good.

"Their awareness of the importance of children's health is increasing. This is a good first step to prevent stunting in this community," he added.

Sumatra Purse with support PARTNERSHIP encouraging efforts to fulfill health services on site for the Suku Anak Dalam community. In the Estungkara program, this activity also involves active participation from the government to be involved in providing health services for the community.

This Posyandu activity went well and smoothly, showing the commitment and active participation of the Dwi Karya Bakti Village community in maintaining maternal and child health. Through collaboration driven by Pundi Sumatera, together with local midwives, and the community, we can together prevent stunting and create a healthier and stronger generation in the future.
