Fauzan Adima – Young Indonesian Forester
Mrs. Fatimah is one of the Kasepuhan Cirompang Indigenous Women who is a housewife and also a teacher of Early Childhood Education (PAUD) and Kindergarten (TK), as well as a member of the Women Farmers Group (KWT). She is an inspiring figure of the Kasepuhan Cirompang Indigenous Women because she is vocal in voicing the rights of the Kasepuhan Cirompang Indigenous Women.
Initially, the presence of women in the Kasepuhan Cirompang Traditional Community was not considered. This is due to the patriarchal culture that is still deeply embedded in the Kasepuhan Traditional Community in general. Usually the presence of women in village deliberation forums is only to fulfill the formality of gender quotas. Women's voices in village deliberations are rarely heard.
"Women's involvement in the village development process is still not considered important and their ideas and concepts have not been accommodated in every village deliberation meeting," said Mrs. Fatimah.
Mrs. Fatimah was then active in activities held by the Cirompang Village Women's Forum. The Cirompang Village Women's Forum was formed by women from Cirompang Village through the support of the Indonesian Young Foresters (RMI) and PARTNERSHIP in the Estungkara Program. Mrs. Fatimah was one of the representatives who enthusiastically attended the meeting from the beginning of the activity. She attended the meeting from the first to the fourth session and was active in every forum.
After that, Mrs. Fatimah actively mobilized members to garden and plant various types of local plants organically. The effort aims to meet the family's food needs and can also be sold as a source of income for the women of Cirompang Village. In addition, Mrs. Fatimah is also actively involved in village deliberation forums. She often voices opinions and ideas that represent the women's forum.
Now she realizes that men and women have equal roles and functions. She said that so far there has been a lot of gender injustice in her environment. Mrs. Fatimah is now determined to continue to voice justice for women in Cirompang Village.
"Through the Women's Forum initiated by RMI and KEMITRAAN, it has provided enlightenment and raised our awareness," said Mrs. Fatimah.
"In village deliberation meetings, we women become brave and confident in conveying our ideas on behalf of women in order to be involved in supporting the development of Cirompang Village," she said.
