The Estungkara program aims to create an inclusive government in Indonesia for indigenous peoples, especially women, children and people with disabilities and other minority groups. This program helps promote gender equality and justice, social inclusion, economic improvement and capacity building of civil society organizations. Estungkara itself is taken from Sanskrit which means the ability to face problems. Estungkara is defined as equality to eliminate injustice and discrimination. KEMITRAAN together with 10 partners in 7 provinces through the Estungkara program is one of the partners for the INKLUSI Program (Australia Indonesia Partnership Towards an Inclusive Society) which emphasizes empowerment, equality, equality and access.
Estungkara is here with the dream of creating a home for all. We want to provide space for indigenous peoples, women, children and people with disabilities – who so far have not received enough attention – to speak out. We believe that by upholding the value of equality and encouraging inclusive policies, injustice and discrimination for vulnerable groups can be eliminated. Estungkara works in 3 domains, namely access to basic services, participation in development, and strengthening the community economy.
Access to basic services is the foundation of social justice, human rights and sustainable development. When vulnerable groups such as indigenous peoples, women, children and people with disabilities have equal access to basic services, this not only helps them directly, but also contributes to a more inclusive society.
In order to achieve sustainable, inclusive and equitable development, participation of vulnerable groups is an important component that must be considered in planning and implementing development programs at the central, regional and community levels. Thus, achieving results that suit the needs of the community itself.
Creating a strong and sustainable economic ecosystem in the community. This helps ensure that every individual and group has equal opportunities to participate in economic development, income generation and natural resource management.
KEMITRAAN collaborates with 10 local partners in a number of provinces in Indonesia, namely West Sumatra, Jambi, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Central Kalimantan, Banten, and East Nusa Tenggara in providing assistance to indigenous peoples and marginalized communities. The indigenous communities we assist are the Anak Dalam Tribe, Orang Rimba, and Talang Mamak in Jambi; the Mentawai tribe in West Sumatra; the Benteng Chinese ethnic minority in Banten; the Kasepuhan and Baduy indigenous communities in Banten; the Dayak Ngaju indigenous community in Central Kalimantan; the Topo Uma and Topo Mama indigenous communities in Central Sulawesi; the Bara, Tanente Bulu, Cindakko, and Kaluppini indigenous communities in South Sulawesi; Ulupulu, Rendu Butowe, Bidoa and Labolewa indigenous communities in NTT; and traditional communities and Marapu adherents in NTT.
Through this program, KEMITRAAN together with 10 partners encourage development policies and planning, as well as community empowerment by emphasizing women, children, and disabilities as the main subjects in assistance.
