Pundi Sumtra Provides Workshop Equipment Assistance for the SAD Community in Pematang Jumat

Pundi Sumatra with support from KEMITRAAN provides training that focuses on increasing the capacity of the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) community. One of them is establishing Field Schools in two assisted locations. Field School (SL) is a training scheme provided to improve the skills and soft skills possessed by the SAD community with the output of being able to develop economic businesses that suit their interests.

Dewi, CEO of Pundi Sumatra, explained that Field Schools in the two communities have several differences depending on the interests and potential of the location where they live. "We carry out an initial assessment, what economic businesses they are more interested in. "From there we facilitate training for them," said Dewi.

For example, in the Pematang Jumat community, Sarolangun Regency, there is an interest in repair or automotive repair activities. “Most of them here are interested in motorbikes. "We will give an example if there is a SAD that opens a workshop in another area, they are interested and want to try," said Arief as the Pundi Sumatra field facilitator.

As a result of the assessment above, Pundi Sumatra also provided them with Field School facilities in the workshop sector. State Vocational School (SMK) 10 Merangin Regency is also a place where participants receive training from the teaching staff there.

The training they receive includes an introduction to each two-wheeled vehicle component, engine maintenance techniques, as well as practice in dismantling and installing each motorbike component.

After conducting several workshop training sessions, Pundi Sumatra provided workshop equipment assistance to this community. The equipment provided includes tire repair kits, tire pumps and various other supporting equipment to empower the community in developing automotive skills.

It is hoped that the provision of these tools can be used by SAD to repair the vehicles they own themselves, so that they do not incur additional costs for repairing vehicles outside.

"At least with the existing training and tools, they can increasingly practice independently in the community. "If we are really smart, we will seek support from the government to provide even greater equipment assistance," said Dewi.
