Strengthening Inclusive Basic Services Through Tebo

In order to strengthen inclusive basic services with a Gender Equity, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) perspective, KKI Warsi in collaboration with the Social Service for Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (Dinsos P2PA) of Tebo Regency held a capacity building activity on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

The event held in the DINSOS P2PA Hall of Tebo Regency involved various parties. Such as, the Population and Civil Registry Service, Education Service, Health Service, Village Government, representatives of the companies PT. RLU and PT. ABT, as well as marginalized groups from the Talang Mamak and Orang Rimba indigenous communities in Tebo Regency, Jambi Province. This activity is supported by the Partnership Partnership through the Estungkara Program, which focuses on strengthening GEDSI principles in the provision of basic services.

This activity aims to increase understanding of GEDSI principles and their application in basic services. And, encourage collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, and community groups in designing and implementing inclusive services. The involvement of various parties is expected to share best practices and effective strategies to ensure equitable and responsive basic services. And strengthen shared commitment in implementing necessary changes in the service system.

Mr. Haryanto, Project Officer ESTUNGKARA from KKI Warsi, emphasized the importance of implementing GEDSI principles in basic services as an effort to ensure that no individual is left behind. “By involving all stakeholders, including village governments and the private sector, we can create a more just and equitable system. This collaboration will help us to identify and overcome the obstacles faced by marginalized groups. Also, ensure that the services provided truly meet their needs,” said Haryanto.

Azra'i, Acting Head of DINSOS P2PA Tebo Regency, stated that strengthening GEDSI is the key to overcoming injustice. Also, ensuring equal access to basic services for all individuals, regardless of gender, disability, or social background. "This event is an important step in strengthening commitment. Also, changing our perspective to ensure that basic services in Tebo Regency are not only available. But also inclusive and responsive to the needs of all levels of society, especially marginalized groups," said Azra'i.

Wenny Ira, an academic from Nurdin Hamzah University Jambi, emphasized the importance of data on vulnerable and marginalized groups. This is the first step in formulating plans and policies that are sensitive to GEDSI. "This data is important so that the policies formulated truly have an impact on access to basic services and more inclusive and sustainable development programs. So that no community group is left behind from the benefits of development," explained Wenny.

During the activity, the resource person also invited participants to discuss and share experiences related to the challenges faced. One of them is in providing access to basic services to vulnerable and marginalized groups. This discussion aims to identify good practices and existing obstacles. As well as encouraging increased commitment, collaboration, and synergy among participants. The results of this discussion are expected to create a shared learning space. Strengthening multi-party commitment in realizing more inclusive and equitable basic services in Tebo Regency.

At the end of the activity, KKI Warsi together with various parties involved built a joint commitment. The goal is to create synergy in realizing inclusive basic services. This commitment does not only focus on providing services. But also on efforts to make these services more responsive to the needs of all levels of society. One of them is vulnerable groups such as women, children, people with disabilities, and indigenous peoples such as Orang Rimba and Talang Mamak.

This activity emphasizes the importance of the GEDSI approach in every aspect of public service, with the hope that the collaboration and commitment that is established will be able to create significant changes in the provision of inclusive basic services in Tebo Regency. Thus, fair, equitable, and responsive basic services can be realized. Bringing broader and sustainable benefits to the entire community, without exception.
