On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, a training was held for the Belimbing Manis Women's Voice Forum. This training discussed village budget planning with a Gender, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) perspective. The training was held at the Belimbing Village Office, attended by 15 women. Consisting of administrators and members of the Successful Women Entrepreneurs Group (KWPS) of the Eternal Red Lantern. Also present were local community leaders such as the RT Head, RW Head, representatives of the PKK, Posyandu, religious leaders, PWT, and Jumantik.
This training has several main objectives, namely, providing an understanding of village budgeting. Also, introducing a planning and budgeting system with a GEDSI perspective, increasing women's participation in village budget planning. And proposing programs that are in accordance with the needs of women and children.
The training was facilitated by Mr. Abubakar Abdul, Director of FITRA West Java, and Mr. Koko Muhammad, Program Manager of FITRA West Java. Both speakers provided in-depth knowledge on village planning and budgeting issues, starting with a basic understanding of gender.
The facilitator opens the session by explaining the difference between gender and sex. Gender is the division of roles, positions, and tasks between men and women that can change along with the development of societal values and norms. While sex refers to the biological differences between men and women that are permanent.
Village Development Planning (PPD) is a process of stages of activities organized by the village government involving the Village Consultative Body (BPD) and community elements in a participatory manner. The goal is to utilize and allocate village resources to improve the quality of human life and overcome poverty. Village planning documents include: RPJM Desa (Village Medium-Term Development Plan) for a period of 8 years. RKP Desa (Village Government Work Plan) for a period of 1 year.
The facilitator emphasized the importance of community participation in village development planning. Village deliberation is a strategic forum where the BPD, village government, and community agree on important matters. This training provides a deep understanding and opens participants' insights about the importance of village budget planning with a GEDSI perspective. It is hoped that through this training, women in Belimbing Village will be more active in participating in the village planning and budgeting process. So that their needs and aspirations can be accommodated properly.
