The Orang Rimba Community of Pauh Menang Village is a community of Orang Rimba who live in the remote Indigenous community social settlement in Pauh Menang Village. Their interactions with villages and sub-districts are quite close to government services but are not yet integrated into routine services provided by village health centers and posyandu.
KKI WARSI through the ESTUNGKARA program collaborates with Pamenang Community Health Center and Pauh Village PKK to carry out posyandu activities and health services at the Orang Rimba location on July 20 2023.
"We encourage this activity to start at the Orang Rimba location so that the PKK and community health centers in providing their services can see directly the condition of the Orang Rimba in their environment, because what will be done is not only providing basic health services but also socializing PHBS, preventing infectious diseases such as TB, which it is related to the location, so that it can be seen directly by the health center and the village. "Then the hope is that there will be the formation of health cadres from Orang Rimba women to be involved in posyandu activities in Pauh Menang Village," said Astri, Community Facilitator from KKI WARSI.
Mr. Ngadiran as head of Pauh Menang Village welcomed this collaboration from PKK, Puskesmas and KKI WARSI for posyandu activities and health services for jungle people in Pauh Menang Village. The hope is that in the future the Orang Rimba will have a willingness to actively participate in routine posyandu activities by the Village PKK team.
"We from the village really support Orang Rimba participation in posyandu activities and other activities in the village," said Pak Ngadiran, Head of Pauh Menang Village.
This event was opened by the Village Head and attended by 43 forest people, 13 women from the Village PKK team, and 3 members from the Pamenang Community Health Center team. The community health center team provides counseling on PHBS and infectious diseases as well as carrying out examinations for children under five, the elderly and basic treatment assisted by the Rejosari Village PKK team. In this activity, vitamins and additional food are also provided for children, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
Mr. Rusdiyanto as Head of the Pamenang Community Health Center emphasized the importance of a clean and healthy lifestyle to prevent infectious diseases. For those who are indicated to be positive for TB, they need special assistance in taking medication and regular checks, so it is important to have health cadres to help with the tasks of health workers.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the PKK welcomed the enthusiasm of residents in accessing health services and will involve forest women in Village PKK activities such as Routine Posyandu in the Village.
"Later we will form a posyandu cadre from Orang Rimba representatives so they can help in village posyandu activities," said Mrs. Lasmi as Chair of the Pauh Menang Village PKK.
