Mina Hasop Eluk Group Practices Making Shredded Patin Fish

It has been two years since the Mina Hasop Eluk Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) Group has been engaged in processing smoked fish. The harvest results from fish rearing carried out in this community are relatively high. So it is very suitable to be processed into other processed food products.

The production of catfish floss is one of the business development ideas that this group is pursuing. The reason is because harvested fish resources are usually always in excess and are quite abundant if only produced as smoked fish. "This shredded meat is also practical to market, and the process of making it is easy," explained Ulvi Monica, Pundi Sumatra field facilitator.

Pundi Sumatra, with support from KEMITRAAN, finally provided training in making Patin fish floss to Mina Hasop Eluk cadres and members. This activity will take place on August 21 2023 at the smoked fish production house. The Bungo Regency Fisheries and Livestock Service was invited to provide training to SAD cadres in Dwi Karya Bakti Village.

Mrs. Ani, as the resource person, explained that in making catfish floss, the most important thing is the ability to control the fire and use a pan that is not sticky. "If the fire is too big, it will burn and taste bitter," he said.

Mrs. Ani also invited the participants to make shredded meat directly. During four hours of practice in making catfish floss, participants produced five hundred grams of catfish floss from two kilograms of available catfish raw materials.

"We were invited by Pundi Sumatra to make other preparations, previously we wanted to make fish skin chips. "But now I want to try making shredded meat first," said Juliana, a member of Mina Hasop Eluk.

In the future, the Mina Hasop Eluk UKM group together with Pundi Sumatra are committed to continuing to improve product quality and empowering their members through productive and market-oriented training. The spirit of entrepreneurship and sustainability are the main drivers for this group in facing ever-growing market dynamics.
