A Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving various parties to develop the empowerment of the Inner Tribe (SAD) in Limbur Tembesi Village, Bathin VIII District, Sarolangun Regency, Jambi Province has been carried out. This activity was held with the main aim of submitting a report on the implementation of the mentoring program by Pundi Sumatra at the Pematang Jumat location, as well as developing strategic steps to increase collaborative empowerment in SAD based on local potential.
In the method of activities carried out, this FGD refers to the Pundi Sumatra program plan with support from the ESTUNGKARA-Kemitraan Partnership Program. This activity was filled with program outreach by Pundi Sumatra and interactive discussions to obtain input from various parties regarding improving activity plans during the program support period. The discussion also focused on formulating strategic steps for empowering the Anak Dalam Tribe as well as dividing the roles of the stakeholders involved.
In this FGD, the Sarolangun Regency Social Service hosted and involved representatives of the SAD community from the Pematang Jumat residential location, Limbur Tembesi Village. This activity was carried out in the Sarolangun Regency Social Service Office Hall on Wednesday, May 24 2023, starting at 08.30 WIB.
The expected results of this FGD include the parties' understanding of the empowerment program and objectives of Pundi Sumatra, including the activities, approaches and expected results of the program. Apart from that, it is also hoped that a clear and directed formulation of strategic steps for activities that are in line with the potential and needs of the SAD community in Pematang Jumat will be created. It is hoped that this will get strong support from the regional government of Sarolangun Regency for the empowerment program at the prospective pilot project location.
In the FGD, there were important notes discussed by the discussion participants. Dewi Yunita, as CEO of Pundi Sumatra, conveyed the importance of changing the community mindset to become an independent society. Apart from that, issues related to data correction processing are also a concern, where the Dukcapil Service is expected to ensure the validity of data related to the SAD community. Herlina from the Social Service said that there were duplicate or overlapping data in the SAD community population data, and that data had been updated for 437 heads of families in Sarolangun Regency.
Several other important issues discussed in the FGD included active health services, health issues that the community needs to be aware of through stakeholder support, handling healthy food, and registration of the Healthy Indonesia Card (KIS) for the SAD community. The Health Service has conducted outreach and screening for tuberculosis (TB) suspects, but there are obstacles in monitoring routine drug consumption. Therefore, it is important to have cadres who are responsible for reminding the community regarding the rules for treating TB.
In the education sector, the Sarolangun District Education Office has several programs, including special incentives for SAD teachers and a focus on developing education in the Pematang Jumat location as a pilot project. Apart from that, the Education Office also facilitates the transfer of SAD to the nearest school with clear NISN requirements. There are also package programs that can be utilized by the community through the nearest Community Learning Activity Center (PKBM) service.
In its closing statement, the Social Service stated that the problem of duplicate and invalid data was a concern, and it was hoped that the SAD community would be able to access Islamic boarding schools for access to education. However, the Social Service does not yet have disability data for the SAD community so there is no access to special services for them. The Social Service also asked for data regarding SAD who had not received assistance to be submitted to the Sarolangun Social Service and then forwarded to the Provincial Social Service.
