Even though he is old, Abah Uding never gets tired of walking along the rocky road to Mount Bongkok every month. He still looks mighty, conquering climb after climb on the mountain, penetrating the dense forest and lush nature.
As a Customary Forest patrol officer or called Ronda Leuweung, which is an important part of traditional institutions, Abah Uding holds a sacred responsibility to protect the customary forests that have been blessed by their ancestors. Every step in the forest is like stepping into a living book rich in local knowledge and wisdom. He had extensive knowledge about every plant, animal, and even medicinal plant that grew there. For him, the forest is a sacred place that must be protected wholeheartedly.
But more than just a guard, Abah Uding is an inspiration for the young generation of Kasepuhan Pasir Eurih village. He shared stories and knowledge with them patiently and enthusiastically.
