Inclusive Legal Identity Services for Indigenous Peoples in Maros Regency

Sulawesi Community Foundation (SCF), as the implementer of the Estungkara KEMITRAAN program, collaborates with the Department of Population and Civil Registration to organize Legal Identity Services through an event entitled All Human Beings Have the Right to Obtain Legal Identity.

This event is a collective action in a series of Inclusive Covid-19 Vaccination Festival events held in the courtyard of the Pucak Village Office, Tompobulu District, Maros Regency, Tuesday (28/02/2023). The event, which took place from 08:00 to 14:00, was attended by a number of parties, including the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Health Resilience (AIHSP) team, Deputy Regent of Maros Regency Hj. Suhartina Bohari, Tompobulu District Head Yusriadi Arif, the Maros Regency Dukcapil Team, and the Tompobulu Creative youth community.

"This service makes it easier for us to carry out the arrangements. Coincidentally, I came with my father, who has been holding the same KTP for 34 years. This is because we live far away, so when there was a direction to take care of new documents, we didn't have time to attend," said Baharuddin. a resident of Manai's son, who was also present in the management of population services.

Estungkara Program Manager from SCF, Muhammad Sultan, said that this activity was carried out so that village communities in Tompobulu District could more easily access legal identity services from the Maros Regency Government. "With the presence of legal identity services in the courtyard of the Pucak Village Office, village communities located far from the Disdukcapil Office "Maros Regency can get convenience," he said.

According to him, currently there are still many village residents who are geographically isolated and vulnerable groups who do not have complete legal identity. This condition means that the population service process for the community is often hampered due to the difficulty of accessing services.

Technical staff for recording legal identity, Burhan said that legal identity services for vulnerable groups such as the disabled, children and the elderly are a priority for his agency, so to do this there needs to be collaboration with all parties such as NGOs in looking at potential locations that need it, collecting data on residents who don't yet have one. identity and mobilization of residents who find it difficult to access services, we hope that this can be a lesson for all parties to get involved in accelerating the fulfillment of community legal identity. said Burhan, technical staff for recording legal identity

"Therefore, with the implementation of this legal identity service, inclusive citizenship for vulnerable groups such as disabled groups, women, the elderly and children can be made easier," added Sultan.

A total of 69 indigenous communities and the general public received new population documents from this activity. And as an effort to realize this citizenship service, at the event location, SCF together with the head of Bonto Manurung Village, Mustakim submitted a document proposing the child's legal identity to the Population and Civil Registration Service of Maros Regency for publication.
