INKLUSI and KEMITRAAN synergized with the Bumi Lestari Institute (LBL) to monitor the program on December 6 2023. The two institutions were represented by Jamal Fida, Mrs. Rabecca from INKLUSI, as well as Tracy Pasaribu, Ajeng Kamaratih, and Rabiyatul from KEMITRAAN. The Director of the Bumi Lestari Institute, Stepanus L. Paranggi, also took part in this activity.
The presence of village government representatives, religious leaders, traditional institutions and women's groups reflects the diversity and unity of the Wanggameti Village community. In the opening briefing, the Director of LBL, Stepanus L. Paranggi, described the beauty of the local nature, while
underscores the infrastructure challenges still faced.
“This is Sumba, where the roads are still badly damaged. "But there are many amazing things and the charm of Wanggameti Village's natural beauty that makes every visitor almost reluctant to go home," he said.
The LBL Director explained that the aim and purpose of this monitoring visit was not to find fault. But to learn together with the indigenous people of Wanggameti Village. They want to see positive practices that have been carried out in the village.
"We want to hear stories, experiences and input from the fathers and mothers of the indigenous people of Wanggameti Village," said Stepanus L. Paranggi.
In a discussion session with the women's group, it was revealed that the results of assistance from LBL had given encouragement to mothers to get involved in economic activities, such as clearing group land and exploiting horticultural agricultural products.
Wanggameti Village women are also active in the Joint Savings and Loans Enterprise (UBSP) group, which is accompanied by LBL. The existence of this group provides support to women in overcoming economic challenges.
"We always talk to propose what our mothers need at the village level," said Maria Anamila, one of the traditional women of Wanggameti Village.
Domu Marahongu, traditional leader of Wanggameti Village, explained that the community had formed an indigenous community forum or forum. The aim is to organize every indigenous community and tribe in Wanggameti Village. They have also created Village Regulations (PERDES) for Traditional Institutions as a concrete step in improving local traditional community organizations.
Through this visit, INKLUSI, KEMITRAAN, and the Bumi Lestari Institute not only monitored the program, but also built synergy with the indigenous community of Wanggameti Village. This is a real step in supporting inclusive and sustainable development, where each party can learn from local experience and wisdom, creating a balance between modernity and tradition.
